THE JOB TRAINING REPORT IN KOMBOR WORKSHOP AT SEPTEMBER UNTIL OKTOBER

INTRODUCTION

A.   BACKGROUND
Job training is one of the activity that is done by students and other task which according with each competence. Job training is the way to introduce the world of work to students and the way to make students more independent. Based on job training, students will learn how to manage the workshop from their boss in workshop, and students also will learn a lot of other job that aren’t learned in their school or class. The students of SMK 1 Kedungwuni do the job training in many workshop and we were placed in the KOMBOR workshop.
Kombor workshop is one of many workshop in Peekalongan city. Kombor is simple workshop but the quality is as good as big workshop. The owner of the Kombor workshop is Slamet , he is a diligent man. The workshop location is in Jln. Kyai Sinangoh, Kajen. It is the strategis location in Kajen. Mechanics in here are very kind. They tell how to do a job with simply to students.

B.   PURPOSE
Ø  Getting more experience work in workshop
Ø  As a requirement for undertake vocational practice examine
Ø  Getting score
Ø  Getting sertivicate of job training
Ø  Making students more independent in practice

C.   SCOPE
Job trainer, workshop, mechanics, spare part shop, teacher, owner of the workshop, welder, turner, canteen, secretary of workshop and customer.

D.   PLACE AND DATE
The job training started from July 1st 2013 until August 31st 2013 at Kombor workshop in Kajen.
























RESULT JOB TRAINING

First week
The students were introduced by teacher to the owner of workshop and their mechanics. After that the owner of workshop would tell rules in the workshop that must be done. After that the mechanics would give the first job, the job were cleaning the workshop and helping the mechanics to get the tools to repair the vehicles.

Second week
Students helped the mechanics to repair the vehicle and studied to repair the car with independent. There were many  job that must be done by students in this week such as tuning up the car, Replacing the brake canvas, setting valves, overhauling engine etc. The students were usually ordered to tune up the car because it is the simple job. Tune up is started by remove the air filter, check the level and quality of oil engine and colling water, check the fan belt, release the carburetor, release and clean the platina then set the platina, set the valves and clean all parts that had been released. After that set all parts that had been cleaned and the last set the carburetor idle speed.

Third week
The students were more independent and done their job without mechanics helping. However if the students finished to do the job, the mechanics would check the job result that had been done by students. After that the mechanics would tell the students mistake and telled the good step.

Fourth week
Students were more brave to done the job with theirselves. The job in fourth week were more difficult such as overhauling engine, overhauling transmission etc. The job like that were usually needed much time to finish. It is about more than a week.

Fiveth week
The job was overhauling engine, students didn’t the job with theirselves but they just helped the mechanics to finish the job because in overhauling engine there were much point that must be done with specific. When overhauling engine the mechanics ordered the students to take a part the engine until the engine were sparated. Pairing and replacing the component were done by the mechanics because this was the difficult job.

Sixth week
There was a job to overhaul the transmission , like with the habit , take a part the transmission were done by students but pairing, replacing and measuring were done by mechanics with students helping.

Seventh week
There were many jobs with vehicles brakes like replacing brake canvas, cleaning and setting the brake shoes etc. Replacing brake canvas always had been done by students because that was an easy job. Setting the brake shoes were had been done by students too, after the job had been done, the mechanics would check it and would set again if the setting were not good.

Eighth week
In this last week mechanics ordered the students to finish the jobs that weren’t finished as long as the students do the job training. In the last day, students would say good bye to the mechanics and the workshop owner. After that, students would meet the workshop owner to asked his signature for students journal and asked him to give score about student’s attitude, skill, and discipline in students’ job training journal.
CONCLUSION AND SUGESTION

A.   CONCLUSION
The job training is very useful helping student to get more experience in the world of work. In the workshop, students will learn a lot of independent, discipline, and how to manage the workshop with well. Beside it , students skill and competence will increase after do the job training.

B.   SUGESTION
The equipments, materials and tools in the kombor workshop aren’t complete. It is better if the workshop to completing the equipments to increase the workshop quality. The workshop tools arrangement aren’t neatly, it must be neatly to make employee more easy to get the tools it is can make the job will finish with effectively.
